Privacy Policy — Pickup

Pickup is a browser extension for Chrome, Firefox, and Safari. It saves a set of tabs with enough context to continue later. The extension has no account, backend, analytics, ads, or tracking. Pickup keeps its data in the browser on your device and does not transmit it.

What Pickup saves

Pickup saves only what you deliberately put into a pickup:

• the title, next action, and note you enter;
• each selected tab’s URL, page title, order, pinned state, and active state;
• a Chrome or Firefox tab group’s title and colour, when relevant; and
• the pickup’s creation, update, archive, and last-restore times, its active or archived state, and its restore count.

This information can reveal what you were browsing, even though it stays local. Treat an exported backup as private for the same reason.

What Pickup does not access or send

Pickup does not read page contents, browsing history, cookies, passwords, form values, screenshots, or files. It has no content scripts and makes no network requests. It does not load remote JavaScript, images, or fonts.

No Pickup data is sent to me or to a third party. It is not sold, shared, used for advertising, or used for analytics.

Permissions, and why each one is there

On Chrome and Firefox, Pickup asks for three permissions and no host permissions at all:

• storage — to keep your pickups on your device.
• tabs — to read the titles and URLs of the tabs you’re saving, and to reopen or close those tabs when you ask.
• tabGroups — to remember a native tab group’s title and colour, and recreate it.

Firefox also declares in its manifest that it transmits no data.

On Safari, Pickup asks for storage and tabs as above, plus access to all websites (all_urls). Safari will not give an extension the title and URL of an inactive tab unless the extension has page access. Pickup uses that access only to read the tab metadata needed for the tabs you save. It does not use that access to inspect page contents. You can limit or revoke website access in Safari, but tabs Safari hides from Pickup will be skipped.

No browser build asks for browsing history, downloads, clipboard, notifications, cookies, or unlimited-storage permissions.

Where the data lives

Pickup uses the browser’s extension-only storage.local area. It never uses browser sync, so Chrome, Firefox, and Safari do not share pickups and a pickup does not follow you to another device automatically.

Backups you export

Exporting creates a readable JSON file on your device. Pickup does not upload it. If you move, sync, or share that file afterward, that is outside Pickup. Import checks the file and merges valid records into the local library.

Deleting your data

Archiving a pickup hides it from the active list but keeps it. Deleting a pickup removes it permanently from extension storage after confirmation. Uninstalling Pickup removes the browser’s local extension data. A JSON backup you exported is a normal file and must be deleted separately.

Changes to this policy

If Pickup changes in a way that affects how it handles data, this page will be updated before that version is released and the effective date above will change.
